Made from the traditional quilt block Sawtooth Star, this piece is a playful blend of patchwork piecing along with block printing. The cheery yellow star color was dyed with dyer’s chamomile that we grew here on the farm. The printed flowers, the scalloped border, and the pink polka dots on the back were block printed with stamps that Sara hand carved. The block printing was done with natural dyes. This quilt is composed of organic cotton, and organic cotton/hemp blend fibers. The piecing was done by sewing machine and the quilting was done entirely by hand with cotton Japanese sashiko thread. The batting is organic cotton and the binding is organic cotton/hemp dyed with indigo.
