(Symplocos cochinchinensis)

A renewable plant based mordant! Leaves of the symplocos tree species are natural bio-accumulators of aluminum. The finely ground leaves are boiled to release the aluminum and then the fibers are steeped in the mordant bath. Use at 50% WOF. Refer to The Plant Mordant Project website (linked below) for instructions and recipes.

Today’s work was processing, and cleaning seeds. They’re put away in jars now for safe keeping until spring and dang does that ever feel good. The farm season is officially over and textile season is about to begin!
