THE HIGH DESERT QUILT
THE HIGH DESERT QUILT
The palette of this quilt was inspired by the natural landscape of Southwestern Colorado’s high desert. Sage, juniper cedar and piñon trees, the classic tumbleweeds that are carried by the wind, jackrabbits, coyotes and the brown clay soil. This quilt feels like home.
All the colors were hand dyed here on the farm, using natural plants, and minerals. Some of the dyes I used came from: Henna, Hopi Black Dye Sunflowers, Osage, Tannin, Cutch, and Indigo.
The neutral background is organic cotton. Other fibers used are: organic fair trade linen, cotton/linen blend. The batting is organic cotton.
Machine pieced and quilted entirely by hand with Japanese Sashiko thread. The binding is double fold for extra durability and the corners are neatly mitered.
Measures approximately: 74” x 86” (Fits a full size bed with drape, and would probably fit a queen bed as well but please measure your mattress to be sure.)
